The small and ancient Republic of San Marino vindicates the right to defend his own autonomy from the attacks of the external enemies, following the ancient motto ‘nemini-teneri’ (not dependant on anyone), and it declares Preventive War to the rest of the planet. Proclaims itself the country of the freedom and the democracy, therefore exports its model anywhere where misses. And start the war with a Great and Invincible Army. „Army-infantry: three men and a Lance-corporal, to which in time of war, a drummer is added. Cavalry: a saddle and a whip. Artillery: A rusted gun.“
The grotesque mise-en-scene is an accusation against the absurdity of the war. The essential scenography is composed by military boots, some medieval helmets and wooden trunks, modeled on the example of The Enigma of Wilhelm Tell by Salvador Dali that suggested the use of the crutches as „accessory of the decomposition and the decadence“. Using few costumes and the boots, the actors modify their body and their acting inspired by the Pieter Bruegel’s painting The Beggars creating characters balanced between farce and tragedy.

Bradipoteatar uses a mixture between research and instinct. Their performances are oriented toward a theater of gesture and word: the movement and the text analysis departs from physical and vocal improvisations that formalize after a careful expressive search by the actors and the directing approach aims to integrate rigorous study, feelings and passion. Their preferred interpretative key is the grotesque one, that allows them to move from the comic to the dramatic following the complexity of the different points of view.

he performance is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of San Marino, and sponsored by Fondazione San Marino.
