SOLO PERFORMANCE BY MARKO MANDIĆ

Actor as a machine for production of emotions, actor as a medium of identification, actor as a body of fascination… In about one hour Marko runs over his body 37 roles (authentic creations from theatre performances he made in the period 1996 – 2010) in order to stage the core of an actor, which is impossible to reduce to the role. Presented dramatic characters retain their physical characteristics, the original texts, stage speech, typical situations and, where possible, including original costumes, props and musical equipment. Compilation does not follow the chronology of their creation. MandićMachine is a final part of the Mandić trilogy (Extract Mandić, Viva Mandić, MandićMachine).

Slovenian Association of Theatre Critics Award for the best performance of 2010/2011 season. “Stunning psycho-physical expression…” (From the award argumentation)

VIA NEGATIVA

Via Negativa is an international performing arts project. Their work is focused on the relationship between the performer and the audience in real space and time. They deal with this relationship as a complex flow of points of view, expectations, judgments, conclusions, recognitions, stereotypes, fallacies, prejudices, tolerance or intolerance, knowledge or lack thereof; all these trigger various emotional, rational or irrational responses. No matter what is the subject or the story of the performance they always search for the situation that triggers this relationship and gets it running. They are interested in live art that exist because of questions and not because of answers. Their performing strategies are therefore more and more diverse: theater, lecture, dance, video, radical body practices, gallery projects … They feel they are most real when they touch upon something that can no longer be rationalized, when they no longer have to pretend to understand something they do not. They work as a collective in which each individual fights with his reasons, his body and courage, his imagination and mind, his skills and energy for his own sense and position on stage. They are working from 2002. In the period from 2002 to 2008 they produced 7 projects on 7 deadly sins and organized numerous workshops. Many performers joined the project, which thus became international. In 2009 they have begun working on a new performance series Via Nova. VN has its home in Ljubljana, the artistic director and the founder of the project is theatre director Bojan Jablanovec. VN is an open-type project, meaning they are not a theatre group with a fixed number of its members.
