Cirque
Idyllic is a collaborative collective of 9 artists and technicians emerging
from diverse specializations including new circus, radical theatre and music.
Sharing a passion for burlesque style performance and renewable energy powered
productions, we have put our different acts, skills and equipment together to
deliver a dynamic 45-minute show, an aerial theatre musical about a debauched
cabaret club. The last bastion of pleasure in the world on the brink of collapse,
the cabaret is populated by tainted but irresistible characters. A tragic conductor,
chasing illusive music, an elegantly inebriated diva, a little girl prodigy with
a sinister glint in her eyes, a giggling, star-struck stripper... these are the
entertainers in the "Cabaret at the End of the World" They are all ruled
over by the ruthless Madame who will do anything to make sure the show goes on.
The show features original songs and a digital and live soundtrack In the tradition
of the musical "Cabaret" the story makes a pertinent comment about the
paradoxical nature of our pleasure seeking society, dazzling and distracting in
an increasingly damaged world. Daring circus trickery, eccentric characters and
dark comedy entertain the audience with escapist delights while an unsettling
narrative emerges centering on the hierarchy between characters and their fear
of a chaotic world outside the confines of the cabaret. Eventually the traditional
structure of the cabaret explodes as the show reaches full tension. The show is
aimed at an adult and teenage audience, and will be toured to festivals, venues
and events in the UK and Europe. We have developed the show as an independent
production package and as such have our own rig and renewable energy power supply;
however we also have a theatre adaptation available. "Cabaret at the End
of the World" toured in England and Germany last summer including Bath Fringe,
Lost Vagueness Festival, Fusion Festival and Berlin Schloss Platz. "This
show brought an essential magic to our festival." Eule, organizer of Fusion,
Germany's second biggest music festival. | Performers: Miranda
