The latest show:'60 Degrees' was made in 2002.'60 Degrees' is a theatre carousel as well as a combination lock. It comprises of a fully rotating stage (contained in a rotating tent!) with 3 rotating subsections containing 6 scenes that split apart and come together offering unexpected combinations. The public sits around the stage and is presented at first with totally different scenes playing simultaneously: In a metro-station, a beach, a museum, a miniature hilly countryside, etc. These scenes then split into 3 parts and 'slide into' one another weaving scenes and stories. The audience follows the development of new situations, strange perspectives turning into familiar facts, and then disappearing again into the code of the combination lock. The beginning scene for one audience member may be the end scene for the member sitting on the opposite side of the stag! e. Using various characters, animated objects, film, and a 6 channel sound system that rotates with the stage, we create a mesmerizing world that challenges conventional ways of perceiving theater. |

The "Silo Theater" was formed in 1995 by a collective of artists living in an old Grain silo in the harbor of Amsterdam, together with a group of Object Theatre researchers from the Amsterdam Art School. People from different countries and disciplines have since then been exchanging and mixing their experiences and talents in installations, films and experimental performances "We design and build 3-dimensional constructions as a point of departure for the creation of our theatre-work. We combine visual arts, animation of objects and puppets, circus, dance, projections, live and recorded sounds. The builders are also actors and animators. The audience steps into another world and becomes a part of the theatrical space, often seated in unconventional ways that heighten their sensual awareness. They witness a continuous unfolding of images and scenes, from which they are able to create their own stories. Sound is a driving force causing a layer of perception to exist which is illustrative and abstract at the same time." |

...You get images that are exquisite or sinister or tinged with unexpected pathos... Let your imagination run riot. The Herald |
