There is nothing more
wonderful than flying on the wings of freedom above the vast space of
world and be aware of eternal deliverance. But slavery, the dark curse of
mankind, is persistently spreading its hungry claws, it breaks our wings,
and throws us in the abyss of hopelessness and suffers. We slowly sink,
deeper and deeper, piece by piece, we lose our freedom, and finally, being
ashamed, we fall to the bottom of a cage without any possibility for
salvation. Perhaps, this all happens in the name of some higher aim? Is
this then acceptable? Let us be damned for we could not escape our
destiny. My story is no different, it is even more horrible. Then, my
thoughts were turning as a growing hurricane to prevent such a terrible
fall. Everything indicated that I would beat evil, and then I was
swallowed by my own flesh and blood. Izidor

Theatre School is, above all, oriented to the special
segment of the young, which is neglected within the regular high school
curriculum, and which is best expressed through the prism of theatre. TS
tries to stimulate imagination, make the whole man's apparatus become
conscious, open new fields of personality expression, and thus confront
the problem of theatre - the world which is comparable with reality, and
not only its double or mirror. (Jernej Lorenci, 1998) The TS was
founded as a form of step-by-step theatre education of high school
students interested in theatre. The selection of their participation in
theatre art is a significant part of the process, but not a result. They
are learning to be creators, founders, and inventors, and only later may
they "perform". Their maturity is of significance, which results in their
individual interpretation born out of this. This indicates their
self-conscious and (self)critical attitude in their life. All the time
they are involved into all segments of theatre activity, including their
taking care of »their« own facility - The First School, which is renovated
and equipped in co-operation with TS and the First Grammar School. Due to
this, associates need to be carefully selected, they are those who, in the
pedagogical part, give preference to it in relation to their personal
ambitions, and thus remain mentors - the guides of their acts and new
directions. There are four such full-time associates: Igor Bracic, Metka
Damjan, Jernej Lorenci, and Nebojsa Pop Tasic. Besides these full-time
associates, there are also relevant workshops offering necessary
additional contents, interesting for some older generations, too. Thus the
TS exceeds the limits of high school creation and unites all young theatre
creators in their quest for new personal direction. This quest is not
ended with graduation. |
