Martin MacDonaugh is among the critically acclaimed and very popular young playwrights in contemporary European drama. The Pillowman is a provocative and intense theatre thriller that unravels the conflict between the intelligence services and a writer, whose terrifying stories about murders of children come true.
Winner of the UBA’s (Union of Bulgarian Artists) award 2005 for the best set design, it was also nominated for UBA’s award for the best direction and best actor (Stoyan Radev). It has 5 nominations for Askeer 2005 for the best actor in leading role (Penko Gospodinov), best actor in a supporting role (Stoyan Radev), best set design, best direction and best performance. The Pillowman won the Askeer award for the best set design.
